Government of Germany: Mensch Wald

Launch film for "Mensch Wald", Germany's official celebration of the UN International Year of Forests. After premiering in digital, social and event channels, :60 and :30 cuts were created as television and cinema commercials. A total audience of over 80 million people viewed the spot by the end of the campaign. The film was awarded a Grand Prize at the 2011 Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, and a 2012 German Online Communication Prize for Best Film. 

A sister spot for viral and social media announced an international short film contest developed with Vimeo, which served as the centerpiece of the Mensch Wald campaign.

Following the launch, six leading German directors were invited to create their own short films about how the forest inspires them, with each film launched at a different point in the campaign. An online audience could follow their journeys in real time via galleries, social media, virals and blogs, and enter their own short forest films in a contest hosted by Vimeo, with the winners selected by public vote.
